It was October; six months since the Wierd-Tokio Hotel Tour finished.
Shortly after the tour, Wierd went back to see their families for a brief period then went back on the road on a new tour.
They were a big hit everywhere now and they've been busy throughout these past several months.
"Show starts in 10 minutes," the Wierd manager announced to the band. They were in a dressing room getting ready.
Anna was seated in front of the mirror, her hands were shaking.
"Calm down," Zee patted her friend's shoulder. "It's just an interview."
But it wasn't the interview that was making her nervous. Anna didn't want to admit it so she just shook her head. "Where's Kait?"
"Um," Zee thought for a moment. "Not sure... She went to check on---"
"Nevermind," Anna cut in. She didn't want to hear the name.
"Look," it was George who spoke this time. "Stop being so edgey. It's not like we parted in a rough patch."
Anna looked at George with chagrin. But she knew he was right. She was being unrationally edgey.
"Just breathe," Zee smiled at her.
Anna nodded in response.
"Bill and the others will be first to be interviewed anyway," George added. But this only made Anna's heart beat faster.
Seeing them again... Anna thought. What a treat.
~
Six months ago...
Anna and Bill were on the rooftop. They were leaning closer towards each other when...
BANG!
The sound of the slamming door made them both jump; their moment was gone.
Anna looked up at Bill. His eyes seemed to be thinking the same thing.
"I can't do this," Anna said in less than a whisper. "I'm sorry, Bill."
Bill didn't answer verbally, but he nodded and hugged her tightly.
"Still friends?" he asked lightly.
Anna nodded softly against his chest. "Mm-hm..."
~
"There they are," George pointed up at the mini TV set on the top corner. It showed the four members of Tokio Hotel entering the set. The host greeted them as they sat down.
"I missed him," it was Kait. She just entered the room. "I just spoke with Gustav! I can't believe they're being interviewed in the same venu and date as us!"
Zee raised her eyebrow. "Like you didn't know?"
Kait blushed. It was her that aked the managers to make this happen. "Sorry," she said. "But this is the only way Gustav and I could see each other. We're both on tour and... come on! It's our monthsary!!"
Zee laughed and waved her hand. "Relax," she said. "It's no big deal. Anna can handle it."
Anna stared at Zee. "Oh, you're not bothered by this?"
Zee stuck her tongue out. "I haven't been shaking in nervousness, have I?"
Anna snorted. Then she looked into Kait's worried eyes. "Don't worry," she forced a small smile. "Zee's right anyway; I can handle it."
Relieved, Kait smiled and sat next to George. Then they all watched the interview together.
Zee's eyes were fixed on Tom; memories flooding into her mind.
~
She reached out to Tom's side of the bed and woke up when she discovered his absence. It was night time, and the room was dark. The only sourch of light came from George's laptop.
"Tom?" Zee called out. When no one answered, she got up and approached the table where the laptop nestled. The screen displayed the pictures she had shown Anna the night she and Tom had been together.
Surprised, Zee clicked the mouse to reveal the source of these photos. Then it came to her: Anna had been keeping them as a reminder. Guilt suddenly enveloped her as she realized how much pain she had inflicted towards her friend.
And Tom, he evidently fled when he saw this. So what does that say for him and Zee? It hurt her to think about it but she had to do what was right. Fighting back the tears, she turned the laptop off and got dressed.
She waited for Tom to come back and when he did, he looked terrible. There was something in his eyes that showed he had been hurt emotionally.
"We have to talk," Zee tried to sound stable. She watched as Tom nodded. "It's about us....and Anna."
Tom's eyes met hers when Zee mentioned the last word. She didn't really intend to tell him her agenda but she knew she had to end it.
"I think it's time we broke up," Zee began. But before she could explain further, Tom cut in.
"If tis is because I went out to---"
"No, Tom... It's because I can't do this anymore."
"I'm confused. I tot yew liked me..."
"I do. But it's obvious that you don't feel the same way."
"Zee, I---"
"You were just trying to do the right thing; I know. That's what I'm going to do now, too."
"Us, being together, is hurting everyone...including you and me."
There was a moment of silence as Tom thought about it. It was true. It hurt Anna to see him and Zee together much like when Zee saw him and Anna together, and it hurt him to see the two girls upset with each other because of him.
After a while, Tom made a slow nod and Zee understood. That's when they made calls to their managers and set everything up. It wasn't long before the news spread the juicy story of their break up and the rest was history.
Zee was back to being friends with Tom and Anna, which kept things professional until the last few days of the tour.
~
"Okay, we're up next!" it was the Wierd manager. "Come on!"
George, Kait, and Zee immediately followed. Anna, though, followed rather hesitantly.
"Anna," Zee took her hand. "Shake it off, it's been months!"
Anna rolled her eyes. "'Shake it off', very funny." But they both chuckled.
It wasn't long before they were announced by the host. Anna's heart raced but she tried to hide her nervousness by waving at the audience, avoiding any glances at the other band already sitting on the Guest Couch.
Eventually, she had to sit amongst them and she was anxious where she would end up sitting beside of.
Surprise, surprise! She was seated at the edge of the couch; Bill on the arm rest to her left. Zee was to her right followed by Tom, Kait, and, on the right arm rest, Gustav. Georg, and George were seating on stools beside the couch.
"Welcome!" The host greeted them. Amazingly, she could be heard underneath the audience roars of excitement. But it definitely took a while to calm them down.
The interview eventually started with what the band has been up to for the past six months. Then, George was asked to say some things in German and, Georg, in English.
Eventually, the conversation flowed towards the issue about Tom and Zee's break up since they sat so comfortably beside each other. Then it led to Kait and Gustav's born relationship later after the tour.
The interview wasn't as bad as Anna had anticipated. In fact, she was very comfortable being around the Tokio Hotel again. However, she avoided making glances toward either of the twins.
When the interview was over, the bands were ushered back to their dressing rooms to freshen up. Kait and Gustav, however, were out somewhere around the set to spend some time together.
"That wasn't so bad," Zee winked at Anna. "See!"
Anna sighed. But before she could answer, there was a knock at the door. Zee answered it. "Oh, hey Tom!"
Anna's eyes shot at the reflection of the opened door. She watched as Tom came in.
"Hey," Tom greeted the three occupants. He seemed to be holding something in his hand. Papers?
"You signed?" Zee gasped at the papers in Tom's hand.
Tom grinned. "Ja, good luck!"
"What's that?" Anna couldn't help but ask. Her eyes still staring at reflections.
"For our new album," George answered like it was supposed to be common sense.
Tom nodded along. "Well, I better go." He handed the papers to Zee. "Danke fur letting me know first." And he was out the door.
"I don't get it..." Anna's forehear wrinkled.
Zee sighed. "I see Kait hasn't told you the second reason why she set this whole thing up."
"What are you talking about?" Anna was puzzled. She turned to Zee now. "What's the second reason?"
Zee was hesitant. "We had to have Tom sign the release forms so we could launch your songs---"
"My songs!" Anna stood up and grabbed the papers from Zee's hands. "No one spoke to me about this---"
"You would've said 'no' if we---" George was about to explain.
"Exactly! It's personal!!" Anna forwarded towards the door. "I can't believe you guys!" Then she slammed the door and hurriedly looked for Tom.
I can't believe this! Anna's mind was racing. She was furious. How could they even think about doing this?! And TOM!! Ugh, how could he agree to this!
She knocked at the Tokio Hotel's dressing room, hoping he'd be there. But it was Bill who opened the door.
"Anna," he smiled.
"Hey Bill," Anna smiled back. "Can I come in?"
"Sure," he let her in. Tom was at the far end of the room playing his guitar and Anna just stared.
"Looking fur Kait? She's wit Gus." Bill said.
"Uh no," Anna answered quietly.
"Oh, und, good luck wit yewr new album!" he smiled. "I haven't seen eet yet but Tom--- he keeps saying he'll be more popular once it's out."
"Did he?" Anna raised an eyebrow. "I'd like to talk to him about that."
Bill chuckled. "My cue to leave?" But he didn't wait for an answer and left.
Anna crossed her arms and faced Tom. "You can stop pretending I'm not here."
"Is tat what I'm doing?" Tom grinned but he didn't look up.
"Come on, Tom... Why did you sign? You know what those songs are about."
This time, he looked up. "Why shouldn't I?"
"It's about you and me!"
"Nice," Tom's tone was both mocking and serious.
"Be serious, Tom."
Tom put his guitar away and stood up. "I won't let yew hesitate launching those songs just because uf me."
"I'm not----"but Anna stopped herself. He was right. She sighed. "What are you getting at?"
"I've hurt yew, I know tat und I've been trying to make it up to yew... I think tis is it."
"Seriously?" Anna smirked. "That's your excuse?"
"Tsk, no---not excuse! It's true. Vhen it koms to me, yew've hesitated. It's time yew stopped."
"But these songs will---"
"It's about er break up. People will tink it's about me und Zee. Yew're protected."
"But you and Zee---"
"We talked eet over before," he grinned. "It's fine wit us. It's te least we can do fur yew."
Anna sighed. She was defeated. "You guys are...okay with it?"
"More than," he smiled. "Can yew tell me somet'ing though?"
"What?"
"Can yew forgive me?"
"No, there's nothing to forgive. You didn't hurt me---"
"Not directly, no. But still... I want yewr forgiveness. Yew didn't deserve to get hurt."
"Neither did you, or Zee, for that matter."
"Actually, I see eet as Karma fur my...womanizing ways," he chuckled. "Zee said she deserved eet fur her agenda..."
It looks like Zee had already confessed what she had done to both of them.
"Look, let's just say we're even now. Okay?" Anna smiled.
Tom smiled back. "Great."
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
The door opened and Zee went inside.
"Tom!!" She gasped. "Anna's on her way to---"
"Hey Zee," Anna waved as she chuckled.
"Oh shoot," Zee was wide-eyed. Then she looked over to Tom. "Are we in trouble?"
Tom laughed. "Not tonight."
